SEPTEMBER 2024
WEEK FIVE

Elementary

Compassion is caring enough to do something about someone else's needs.

Bible Story

Jesus is the Light of the World
John 8:12

Jesus is the light of the world.

MEMORY VERSE

"Let your light shine so others can see it. Then they will see the good things you do. And they will bring glory to your Father who is in heaven."

Matthew 5:16, NIrV

Engagement Questions

  • What are some things that would be harder to do with no light?
  • How can Jesus’ light help you grow?
  • What helps you remember that Jesus is the light of the world?

Prayer

"Dear God, thank You for sending Jesus to be the Light of the world. We needed a Rescuer, and You sent Jesus! Help us to put our trust in Jesus and to show compassion to others, especially the ones we’ve prayed for today. We want other people around us to see YOUR light so they can follow You too. We love You, and we pray these things in Jesus’ name. Amen."

ENGAGE IN EVERYDAY MOMENTS TOGETHER

Morning Time

As your kid starts their day, let them know how much you not only love them, but also like them—and why.

Drive Time

While on the go, ask your kid: “Who is someone you know who loves people like Jesus does?”

Meal Time

At a meal this week, have everyone at the table answer this question: “How is Jesus a light to the world?”

Bed Time

Pray for each other: “Jesus, help us to live like You did. Help us to love those who others overlook. Help us to be kind to everyone, regardless of who they are. And most of all, help us to point people to You and what you want to do in their lives.”
